ICC T20 World Cup 2024, SA Vs BAN: Hridoy Not Happy With Umpiring

Bangladesh batter Towhid Hridoy was not happy with the umpiring during the SA vs BAN, T20 WC match. The batter was speaking about the decision during the 17th over when a ball from Ottneil Baartman hit Mahmudullah's pad and ran down to the fine leg fence for a four. The umpire raised his finger, only to be overturned upon reviewing.

"To be honest that was not a good call for us in such a tight match. In my point of view, the umpire gave that out but it was pretty hard on us. Those four runs could have changed the match scenario," Hridoy told reporters following the game.

T20 World Cup: Klaasen Critical Of NY Pitch

If the ICC wants to market T20 cricket in the USA, the pitch and outfield at the Nassau County Cricket Ground isn't a "great selling product", South Africa's flamboyant batter Heinrich Klaasen said.

"Obviously, if you have to showcase it to the world and sell it, I don't think it's a great selling product, but for cricket, it's tight competition. It brings the other teams and the higher teams very close to each other," Klaasen, who scored 46 off 44 balls in team's four-run win said at the post-match press conference. (PTI)

The influential Sunil Chhetri's absence will be a difficult void to fill as the Indian football team enters a testing transition phase with a crucial FIFA World Cup qualifying match against heavyweights Qatar today.
