The previous edition of the Women's Asian Champions Trophy hockey was held in Donghae, Korea in 2021. Japan emerged victorious with a 2-1 win over Korea to win their second title.
Indian Women's hockey team have won the title just once (2016) and have runners-up two times (2013, 2018).
India, seventh in the world hockey rankings, are currently the top women’s hockey team in Asia followed by China (10), Japan (11), Korea (12), Malaysia (18) and Thailand (29). The top four teams at the end of the group stage will qualify for the semi-finals.
