During what was the nadir of Harry Maguire's Manchester United career, the England international was name-dropped by Ghanaian MP Isaac Adongo inside his country's parliament, sparking discussion and outrage aplenty on social media when the video of the incident surfaced. Adongo, in the video, was seen comparing Maguire to?Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia, with the politician claiming both to be equally bad at their respective tasks.?(Football News)

A year later, with Maguire back in form and back in contention for both Manchester United and England, Adongo has issued an apology from inside the same parish, calling him a transformational footballer. Maguire, who had come under intense scrutiny both before and after the initial club had leaked out, took to social media to respond to Adongo, accepting his apology and issuing an invitation to Old Trafford.?

After spending much of the previous season on the peripheries, Maguire is back among the starters at Manchester United. The central defender has started seven league games already, almost half as many as he did in the whole of last season. Maguire also remains a key player for England, with whom he is expected to go to Germany in summer 2024 for the UEFA Euro.?
