After knocking the doors of the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS), Vinesh Phogat finally see a light as they accepted her application. And, In a major development, after several requests, senior advocate Harish Salve has agreed to represent the Indian wrestler at the court.

The decision came after the Indian contingent struggled to find a legal representation for the hearing, which has been rescheduled to 10 am local (1:30 PM IST) on Friday, August 9.

It's is early to say, but after only 1km of swim, Florian Wellbrock (GER) , the defending Olympic and two-time world champion, is leading.

Superstar javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra's family members are not at all disheartened that he couldn't defend his Olympics gold and instead said that they were proud of his feat of winning a second consecutive medal for the country.

"The environment is joyful in the entire nation, We are very happy that we have won silver medal. This is the hard work of that boy and the nation's blessing is with him that he won medal for the second time," said Chopra's father Satish Kumar.

His mother Saroj Devi added: "He (Neeraj Chopra) has done very well and we will give him a grand welcome upon his return. He loves churma, so, we will make it for him."

Chopra's aunt Kamlesh also lauded his effort.

"We are extremely happy, he (Neeraj Chopra) did his best despite the tough competition. It's not about winning a gold or silver, but about winning a medal, and he did his best," she said. (PTI)

Kristof Rasovszky of Hungary who finished second in Tokyo, claimed the gold in Paris Games 2024 in the marathon swimming in the waters of Seine. He took the lead at the 6.6km mark and didn't look back. German - Oliver Klemet missed the gold by just two seconds bagging silver. And the bronze goes to another Hungarian David Betlehem.

The Indian golfers Aditi Ashok and Diksha Gagr are tied 14th and are in action to get a higher ranking in the standings of the Women individual golf event at the Paris Olympics.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport has announced that Vinesh Phogat’s appeal has been accepted. A decision on whether the Indian wrestler will be awarded a joint silver medal will be made before the conclusion of the Paris Olympics 2024.

France have taken bronze in their bronze medal Men's Table Tennis match against Japan 3-1.

Aman Sehrawat's bronze medal match against Puerto Rico's Darian Toi Cruz will be contested tonight at 10:30pm IST.

Wrestling Federation of India president Sanjay Singh said that the Indian grappler should rethink the decision.

“She announced her retirement with a heavy heart. After reaching India, she should discuss with her family, Federation, sports federations and then make a decision because she is a good wrestler. She has performed so well. So, we think it is not right for her to make a decision in haste. She should rethink," he told ANI.

It all began when 29-year-old Vinesh Phogat had been disqualified for being 100 grams overweight ahead of her 50kg category gold medal bout.

However, after some support from people back home in India, Vinesh decided to hang up her boots and announced her retirement. She took to social media platform X to share her decision, stating that she no longer has the strength to continue in the sport.

"Ma, wrestling has won, I have lost. Please forgive me, your dreams and my courage, everything is broken," Vinesh wrote in an emotional post addressed to her mother, Premlata. She further added, "I don't have any more strength now. Goodbye wrestling 2001-2024. I shall be indebted to you all. Forgive (me)," she wrote.

Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar, who are in action at the women's golf event. Aditi is on 4 over par today, Diksha is on 5 over par.

The wife in her is happy that her husband will have more time at home but the "die-hard fan" in her is sad that PR Sreejesh's galvanising presence in front of the goalpost would no longer be a constant in Indian hockey.

The Indian men's hockey team clinched a second successive bronze medal at the Olympic Games for the first time in 52 years, rallying to beat Spain 2-1 in third place playoff, giving veteran goalkeeper Sreejesh a fitting farewell on Thursday. He was also a part of the squad that won the bronze in the Tokyo Games.

"I am not only his wife, but also a die-hard fan. Being a fan I will definitely miss him on the field and being his wife, I will get more of his time. So I am happy and sad at the same time. Both the emotions are there," Aneeshya, who is a former long-jumper and an Ayurveda doctor, told 'PTI Bhasha'.

She is waiting for him to come home so that she can serve him some traditional Kerala meals that he is very fond of.

World champion Marileidy Paulino wins the women's 400m final comfortably, clocking an Olympic record timing of 48.17 seconds to take the gold. The Dominican Republic's athlete pips Salwa Eid Naser of Bahrain, who grabs silver in 48.53s and Poland’s Natalia Kaczmarek, who takes bronze in 48.98.

Sergio Camello nets his second goal in stoppage time to put Spain 5-3 ahead of France, and they end up winning the men's football team gold medal. It is Spain's first gold in men's football since Barcelona 1992. As for the hosts, it is a disappointing end to their campaign.

For the third time in three days, the women's golf competition at Paris 2024 has a new leader. New Zealand's Lydia Ko, who already has silver and bronze medals from the last two Olympic Games, will hit the course on Saturday in the lead and in quest of her first gold. Ko shot a four-under 68 to move to nine-under overall, two shots clear of USA's Rose Zhang and Japan's Yamashita Miyu, and tied with halfway leader Morgane Metraux of Switzerland. In the first two boxing finals of the evening, two new Olympic champions have been crowned. Uzbekistan's Asadkhuja Muydinkhujaev scores a 5-0 unanimous win against Mexico's Marco Alonso Verde to snare the men's 71kg gold. And Wu Yu from People's Republic of China takes a 4-1 split decision win over Turkiye's Buse Naz Cakiroglu in the women's 50kg final.

Algeria's Imane Khelif has brushed aside controversy and all the uproar around her gender eligibility tests, by winning the women's welterweight final by a unanimous 5-0 margin against China's Yang Liu. Khelif had earlier raised eyebrows after Italian boxer Angela Carini had withdrawn mid-bout after a punch hit her too hard.

After an intense three-setter at the Eiffel Tower Stadium in the women's beach volleyball final, Brazil's Ana Patricia Ramos and Eduarda Lisboa beat Canada's Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson 26-24, 12-21, 15-10 for gold. Earlier, Switzerland's Tanja Huberli/Nina Brunner bagged bronze, beating Australian pair Mariafe Artacho del Solar/Taliqua Clancy 21-17, 21-15.
