Mohun Bagan Super Giant (MBSG) will face NorthEast United FC in the Durand Cup final on Sunday, August 31st
The victory also marked Mohun Bagan securing their second consecutive Durand Cup final spot.
The match ended 2-2 in regulation time, which eventually gave rise to penalty shoot-outs in Kolkata.
Halicharan Narzary’s spot-kick was saved by Vishal Kaith after Bengaluru’s Gurpreet Singh Sandhu denied Greg Stewart’s strike.
Kaith followed up with another save, this time from Aleksandr Jovanovic to take his team to the finals.
During regulation time, Bengaluru FC started off the scoring after Sunil Chhetri fired the Blues to a 1-0 lead, scoring a penalty, after Liston Colaco brought Vinith Venkatesh down.
Vinith, then doubled Bengaluru’s lead with an easy tap in as the Blues took full advantage of Kaith’s error in judgement.
The Mariners will now face off against the NorthEast United FC in the finals on Saturday, August 31.
