RCB Suffer Yet Another Defeat While LSG Thrive

Third defeat of the season for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in four games whereas Lucknow Super Giants win their second game on the trot. It's DC vs KKR tomorrow in IPL 2024. Till then, good night!

Mayank Yadav | POTM

Feel really good, two Player of the Match awards in two matches. I am happier that we won both the matches. My goal is to play for the country. I feel this is just the start. I enjoyed Cameron Green's wicket the most. There are a lot of factors to bowl quick - diet, sleep, training. I am focusing a lot on my diet and recovery - ice bath.

KL Rahul | LSG captain

Overall a really good performance. the wicket was a bit tricky and there was some help for the seamers. Quinton got us off to a good start. We were 10-15 runs ahead of what we needed to be. The talk was about using the wicket and not the yorkers. It's important to stay calm. One ball hit me really hard, so happy to see Mayank bowl the way he's been bowling. He's waited patiently for a year, he's working really hard, he's really professional, has a great temperament. Bowling first has been the trend in T20 cricket. If I have a look at our record, it speaks differently. The good thing I am doing is losing the toss. If we get bowled out, if the opposition blasts out, there's something to go back and look. It's okay to lose sometimes, the first game was one such game, we have bounced back really well. This is how we play our cricket. Powerplay bowling has always been a question mark, trying to fix that. We've gone spin this game, very obvious match-up against RCB which worked. We'll try find ways to get wickets in the powerplay.

Quinton De Kock On His Innings Of 81

"Normally batting first here is quite difficult. You never know what kind of score is enough. I thought 180 wasn't enough. [On the pitch] The ball was holding in the pitch and bouncing and I couldn't play as freely. I had to control the innings and bat for longer. We lost wickets at bad times so I had to bat longer. [On Mayank Yadav] Glad to have him in our team. He is bowling rockets at the moment. He is keeping things simple. Youngsters bowling express pace can get caught up trying different things. [On Pooran's knock] That's why he's paid the big bucks I guess! When I'm playing anywhere in the world, as an opener I have to figure out my conditions. Anywhere we bat we always get different conditions. Even if you play in the same stadium, it's never the same."

Faf du Plessis Post His Side's Defeat

"Mistakes like that can really cost you. [On facing Mayank Yadav] As with any new young fast bowler, it's an action you haven't faced before and he has the pace behind it. His pace was great but more impressive was his ability to control length and bowl with discipline. It's pace combined with accuracy. [On the target] I didn't think we were very good tonight with our bowling. Lot of mistakes in the powerplay. We gave some easy boundaries. We bowled some really good death overs to bring them back. But then you need partnerships. As basic as that. And we never got that. Disappointing, but we need some strong characters in that dressing room to put their hands up."

LSG Win!

What a win for Lucknow Super Giants! Mayank Yadav's three wickets coupled that of Quinton de Kock and Nicholas Pooran's batting blitzkrieg led from the front as they dismantled the Royal Challengers Bengaluru on their patch. For the home team, apart from Mahipal Lomror and Rajat Patidar, none of the famed batters turned up as they faced their third defeat in four games.

Glenn Maxwell Speaking To The Broadcasters

"Plan was to keep it simple and wait for a mistake. Probably going to be a tough chase because it's (bounce) a bit inconsistent, we have to be at our best. I felt like we gave a lot of easy boundaries at the start and wanted to get a bit of energy and a wicket. Dropped catches cost us. I think it's two paced so we have to be at our best. Hopefully the ones who get starts can go on."

KL Rahul | LSG Skipper

"It is a bit different. Been used to coming here and walking into the home dressing room, bit different when I walk into the visiting dressing room. We have showed character in both games. Everyone is chipping in and that gives you a lot of confidence, we need to keep doing that and keep getting better. Some of the guys have gotten better with their skills since season one, the combination is coming well as a team. Now we need to put some runs on the board and put pressure on the oppositon. More than the victory everyone was talking about Mayank's pace, he has been with us since the first season and was unlucky to miss out last season with injury. Just one change - Moshin Khan has a sore back and Yash Thakur comes in."

Faf du Plessis | RCB Captain

We are going to chase. The previous game we played on here first innings it was slower. Some places it is patchy and dry. It really important to find some answers. We have had some really good conversations. It would be good if you keep learning from the mistakes. There is a touch of moisture and let's see how it goes. Topley comes in for Alzarri.

Toss Update

Royal Challengers Bengaluru have won the toss and elected to field first in this tie against Lucknow Super Giants.

Pitch Report

"Pitch number 7 which was used for the first game against Punjab Kings - 175 was the score. Average first innings score over here in the last few years has gone up to 196. What I have seen straightaway on this pitch is that it's very dry. I think there will be spin, especially for Glenn Maxwell. We saw the other night (RCB vs PBKS), Glenn Maxwell was getting turn. Both spinners for RCB were getting turn - the left-armer and the off-spinner. This pitch is very dry. It's the highest turning ground on average this year in the IPL. This area outside the off-stump for the right-handed batsmen, this is the sort of area that Maxwell will be looking to pitch the ball. It's almost like a riverbed, very dry, a lot of these cracks don't move but right next to these cracks, there's a little bit of grass as well. The ball will behave differently whether it pitches on the brown bit or the green. It may be slightly two-paced. The odd ball turns, the odd ball goes straight. A very good pitch for bowling spin," say Graeme Swann and Murali Kartik.

KKR-RR, GT-DC Matches Rescheduled: BCCI

Kolkata Knight Riders' home IPL game against Rajasthan Royals was on Tuesday advanced by a day to April 16, while Gujarat Titans-Delhi Capitals fixture in Ahmedabad was also rescheduled by the BCCI which did not give any reason for the move. (PTI)
