Pakistan Vs Bangladesh, 1st Test Day 2 Highlights: Rizwan, Shakeel Star As PAK Ahead By 421 Runs At Stumps

Fifties from opener Saim Ayub and middle-order batter Saud Shakeel brought Pakistan back on level terms, after the Bangladeshi bowlers made the new ball talk on Day 1. Seamers Hasan Mahmud and Shoriful Islam snared two wickets each but Ayub and Shakeel's solid knocks took the hosts to 158 runs for the loss of four wickets at stumps. Only 41 overs could be bowled as the start of play was delayed by about four and a half hours due to early morning showers. With the ongoing unrest in Bangladesh, ousted member of parliament Shakib Al Hasan took the field on Day 1 of the first Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh, in Rawalpindi on Wednesday (August 21). The 37-year-old Shakib was cleared by Bangladesh's new interim government last week to play the two-match Test series.

At the end of 90 overs, Pakistan have amassed 342 and are yet to lose a wicket. Shakeel-Rizwan are looking unperturbed at the crease as Bangladesh bowlers look for some luck on day 2.

Finally the stand is broken as Saud Shakeel departs for a well-made 141(261 deliveries). Mehidy Hasan Miraz struck to end PAK's resistance and give some joy for Bangladesh bowlers.

At tea, Pakistan are 367/5 with the only wicket of Saud Shakeel falling for 141. Bangladesh bowlers have something to enjoy in what has been a dreadful day for their bowlers.

Play resumed post-tea session as Mohammad Rizwan nears his 150-score whereas Pakistan are in the box seat. The hosts are nearing 400 and that could mean trouble for the visitors.

Agha Salman (19) became the latest casualty as Bangladesh bowlers fought back in Rawalpindi. Pakistan are six down but have Mohammad Rizwan at the crease who crossed 150.

Pakistan have declared at 448/6 with Mohammad Rizwan remaining unbeaten on 171. Interesting decision but a brave one from the Pak camp.

Stumps called on Day 2 and Bangladesh have managed to go into Day 3 with all its wickets intact. Shadman Islam is batting on 12 while Zakir Hasan will begin tomorrow from 11.

Mohammed Rizwan and Saud Shakeel scored centuries to take Pakistan to a massive total of 448/6 when they declared. Rizwan finished on an unbeaten 171 while Shakeel was dismissed on 141 after the duo had stiched a massive 240-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Bangladesh openers, Shadman Islam and Zakir Hasan negotiated a tricky 12-over phase towards the end of the day to take Bangladesh to 27 without loss at stumps.
