Is Anyone But You available to stream? Is watching Anyone But You on Peacock, Disney Plus, HBO Max, Netflix or Crunchyroll? Yes, we have found an authentic streaming option/service.

‘Anyone But You’ is finally here. Find out how to watch Sydney Sweeney’s The highly-anticipated romantic comedy Movie Anyone But You online for free.

The romantic comedy continues to be so back, as we can see with the release of Anyone But You starring Sydney Sweeney (Euphoria) and Glen Powell (Top Gun Maverick). But when will you be able to skip to the good part, a.k.a. stream the movie and watch the whole thing (or just your fave ~moments~) over and over in the comfort of your own home? Let's find out!

Little fun fact for the book girlies out there: Anyone But You joins a pantheon of iconic movies like 10 Things I Hate About You, Clueless, Easy A and She's The Man that are secretly adaptations of classic literature. The sacred text this time around is William Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing, a romantic comedy in its own right about two people who can't stop bickering and need to get a room already, and how their friends go to wild lengths to make it happen. Already from the trailer you can tell that Sydney and Glen's characters have the bickering part down.

The floundering romantic comedy “Anyone but You” has several things going for it: the rising stars Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell, a luxurious Australian backdrop, and more white teeth and washboard abs than the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. The plot is a classic switchback prank. Sworn enemies Bea (Sweeney) and Ben (Powell) pretend to fall in love at a destination wedding so that their friends and family (Alexandra Shipp, Hadley Robinson, Bryan Brown, Michelle Hurd and GaTa) will quit trying to trick them into liking each other. It’s a loose reworking of “Much Ado About Nothing,” and, presumably, the first Shakespeare adaptation where a dog does yoga — and certainly the first in which a man (GaTa) serenades a koala. Nevertheless, the film, directed by Will Gluck, who wrote the screenplay with Ilana Wolpert, is so awkwardly assembled that our attention gets pulled away from the leads to the bizarrely lavish buffet spreads in the background. We’re mildly curious about whether these two fakers will slip between the sheets for real — and majorly interested in why a guest bedroom has so many bowls of fruit.

“Anyone but You” is being sold as a return to the salacious rom-com, although that’s only true for one good scene. Overall, it’s more bawdy than erotic. “You know a lot about bathroom law,” Ben purrs to Bea when they meet-cute wheedling a restroom key from a barista. After a whirlwind first date, Bea wakes up in Ben’s arms fully clothed. The night appears to have been innocent — at least, that’s the implication from Gluck’s close-up shot of Bea’s cinched belt buckle — but both panic and settle into a shtick of exchanging public insults with the spite of jilted lovers.

We can barely make out whether a month has elapsed since that encounter or several years. Just resign yourself to nonsense, like the entrance of Margaret (Charlee Fraser), Ben’s ex, with her new boyfriend, Beau (Joe Davidson), a galumphing surfer who promptly attempts to eat a bundle of ceremonial sage. The running time is all flimsy bikinis and flimsier excuses to get people undressed. A tarantula? Strip off those shorts! Itchy sand? Swim trunks begone! A fire? Snuff out the flames with a dress! By the time Bea tumbles into Sydney Harbor, it’s a shock that Ben leaps in after her without tearing away his pants.

Sweeney and Powell could do wonders with a better script, something that makes more use of the way they grin at each other like they ate knives for lunch. She’s skilled at layered insincerity; he specializes in smirky, put-on machismo, shooting the camera a horrifically funny tongue waggle. Here, their performances get bullied around by the insistent pop soundtrack. One genuinely tender scene involves Bea crooning a peppy Top 40 hit to steady Ben’s nerves. But she only gets in a few quiet a cappella bars before Gluck cranks the original at an earsplitting volume — are you not entertained!? — and, for good measure, blares it again at the end over some riotous behind-the-scenes karaoke. You wonder if he spent more time on the closing credits than the actual film.

So, where can you watch Anyone But You? Will it be available to stream at home on Netflix or Amazon Prime? Here’s everything we know about how and where to watch Anyone But You online for free:

Anyone But You Release Date

Anyone But You is set to release on Friday, December 22, 2023, where it will be opening up against the DC superhero sequel Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, Illumination's animated adventure Migration, and Sean Durkin's star-studded wrestling drama The Iron Claw. The film was previously scheduled for a December 15, 2023, release, but was pushed back a week.

Where to Watch Anyone But You:

As of now, the only way to watch Anyone But You is to head out to a movie theater when it releases on Friday, December 22. You can find local shows on Fandango, IMAX, Regal, AMC Theatres, Cinemark, Cineplex, Landmark Theatres, Alamo Drafthouse and Harkins Theatres.

Otherwise, you’ll just have to wait for it to become available to rent or purchase on digital platforms like Amazon, Vudu, YouTube and Apple, or become available to stream on Netflix.

How to Watch Anyone But You at home?

You can't watch the film, starring Sydney and Glen, from the comfort of your own home yet. Right now, the only way to see the new rom-com is to go out and see it in the cinemas.

It hit the UK box office on Boxing Day (26th December) and the movie's US release date was 22nd December. It's very likely that Anyone But You will eventually be available to be streamed on platforms like Prime Video or Netflix but that won't be until later in 2024.

The bet is that Netflix will get the film since Sony Pictures (who produced the film) signed a deal with the streaming service back in 2021.

So, if you want to see the moment that led to Sydney being bitten by a spider whilst on camera you'll either have to leave your house and join fellow film lovers in the theatres or just sit tight and make sure all your streaming subscriptions are up to date!

That's right, during filming Sydney endured a horrible accident involving Australia's wildlife. Talking to Jimmy Fallon, Sydney said that filming a scene with a spider turned into a real life horrific event.

"We're filming and then the thing [the spider] just starts biting me, but we're in the middle of the scene and I'm supposed to be screaming but then my screaming got a little serious," she started, explaining how the crew believed she was acting.

She went on: "Glen was the only one who was like, 'woah, woah, woah I think this is a little real'."

Now I can't begin to imagine where a spider comes into a modern version of 'Much Ado About Nothing' but then again creepy crawlies are part and parcel of filming in Sydney.

Is Anyone But You streaming?

Well, no. That should have been clear from all the confusion above, right? The good news is that Anyone But You is currently in theaters! Go see it with a big crowd if you're able! It's so fun to see a romantic comedy with other people. Laughing with strangers is the best. Some might even call it healing.

As for when Anyone But You will be available on streaming, I would guess sometime in spring 2024. That makes sense, right? If a romantic comedy releases in December, and movies tend to show up on streaming services a few months after they were in theaters, that feels right. (No Hard Feelings took four months, and four months after December is April.) But again, that's just an estimation. Maybe they'll push for a Valentine's Day release.

When will Anyone But You Available to Stream?

There's no official word yet from Sony as to when the movie will be released on digital platforms, however it's likely that Anyone But You will be made available to buy and/or rent first approximately two months after the end of its theatrical run. Then, through Sony's licensing deal with Netflix, the movie will begin streaming on that service at some point in the first half of 2024.

Will Anyone But You Be On Netflix?

Anyone But You will likely be on Netflix as a result of a deal inked between the streaming platform and Sony Pictures Releasing that gives the streamer rights to all the company’s theatrical films starting in 2022.

While a streaming release date for Anyone But You has not yet been announced, we can make an estimate based on another recent Sony film. The Pope’s Exorcist was released in theaters on April 14, before coming to Netflix on Aug. 16, 2023 — around four months after it debuted. If Anyone But You follows the same pattern, we could be watching from the comfort of our homes by late April 2024.

Is Anyone But You On HBO Max?

No, Anyone But You will not be on Max since it’s not a Warner Bros. movie. The platform — previously known as HBO Max — also no longer does direct-to-streaming releases. Instead, they’ve implemented a 45-day window between the theatrical release and the Max release.

Is Anyone But You on Disney Plus?

Sorry folks, Anyone But You isn’t streaming on Disney Plus and likely won’t be, at least for a year or two.

If Netflix picks up the film, which we assume it will, Disney will have to wait patiently to pick up the distribution rights. Anyone But You will probably have to make a killing at the box office to entice Disney to add it to its library later on.

Still, never say never. We may still get the new Jennifer Lawrence movie on the House of Mouse platform. We’ll let you know as soon as any news breaks on the issue.

Is Anyone But You on Prime Video?

Anyone But You is expected to hit Prime Video sometime in late 2023 or early 2024.

Depending on the potential deal between Sony and Netflix, a Prime Video release for the new movie may be delayed. However, we are pretty confident that fans will be able to watch the film by at least purchasing or renting the title on Amazon at some point.
