Bommai's comments reflect his belief that the absence of a strong opposition party at the national level renders these meetings devoid of political meaning and unlikely to yield any significant benefits for the participating parties.

As the meeting of opposition parties in Bengaluru approaches, senior BJP leader Basavaraj Bommai expressed his skepticism, stating that such gatherings hold no political significance and will have no impact. He further claimed that numerous similar meetings may occur in the coming days, but they will fail to make a dent in the political landscape.

Bommai, the former Chief Minister, criticized the opposition parties, asserting that their only common objective is to defeat Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP. He argued that the absence of a strong opposition party at the national level results in the formation of a federation of regional parties, rendering their meetings politically futile.

Addressing the media, Bommai emphasized that the country has witnessed remarkable progress in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to international recognition for Prime Minister Modi. He highlighted the nation's economic recovery, asserting that the security, progress, economic development, education, and social growth of the country are solely achievable under Modi's leadership.

The upcoming meeting, organized by the Congress party, marks the second unity gathering of opposition parties, with the first held in Patna, Bihar, on June 23. This Bengaluru meeting aims to bring together leaders from 24 non-BJP parties to strategize and challenge the saffron party in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi is expected to attend a dinner meeting on July 17, where leaders of these parties will be present.
