West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, expressed concern on Sunday over the severe impact of heavy rainfall in the northern districts of the state. In a series of tweets, she highlighted the widespread effects, including property damage, road disruptions, and people being marooned. Taking immediate action, Banerjee announced the dispatch of a high-level disaster management team, led by the Irrigation Minister and accompanied by senior officials, to assess the situation and provide assistance on the ground.

Banerjee assured affected residents that all necessary aid would be provided, emphasizing the round-the-clock monitoring of the situation by Chief Secretary HK Dwivedi. The Chief Minister acknowledged the efforts of District Magistrates (DMs), Superintendents of Police (SPs), and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) in carrying out relief and rescue operations with utmost urgency.

To tackle the aftermath of the floods, Mamata Banerjee revealed her plans to send a high-level disaster management team, comprising the Irrigation Minister and secretaries from the Disaster Management, Irrigation, and Agriculture departments, to the flood-affected regions of North Bengal.
