The ISRO has released images of lunar far side area?captured by the Lander Hazard Detection and Avoidance Camera (LHDAC).The?camera assists in detecting?a safe landing area, devoid of boulders or deep trenches?during the descent, and has been?developed at SAC- Space Applications Centre.
ISRO Releases Images Of Lunar Far Side Captured On Lander Camera: Chandrayaan-3
The ISRO on 21st August, released images of Lunar far side area captured by the Lander Hazard Detection and Avoidance Camera (LHDAC).
Notably, one of the majot centers of?Indian Space Research Organisation, SAC?focuses on the design of space-borne instruments for ISRO missions alongside?development and operationalisation of applications of space technology for societal benefits. The applications cover a wide ambit-?communication, broadcasting, navigation, disaster monitoring, meteorology, oceanography, environment monitoring and natural resources survey.
According to ISRO, the Lander is equipped with several advanced technologies to achive the mission objectives of Chandrayaan-3 and LHDAC?is one of them.?Launched on July 14, Chandrayaan-3 is a follow-on mission to Chandrayaan-2 to demonstrate end-to-end capability in safe landing and roving on the lunar surface. The Lander Module with rover in its belly is expected to touch down?on the surface of the Moon around 6.04 PM on August 23, as per a statement released by the ISRO on Sunday.
