Earthquake Of 5.4-Magnitude Hits Nepal, Tremors Felt In Delhi-NCR, Uttarakhand

The earthquake had epicentre in Western Nepal. Its tremors were felt in Delhi, National Capital Region (NCR), and Uttarakhand on Saturday evening. No damage has been reported so far.

Delhi and the surrounding National Capital Regin (NCR) felt tremors on Saturday evening of a 5.4-magnitude that struck Nepal.

The epicentre of the earthquake was in Western Nepal and it occured at 7:57 pm on Saturday evening, according to National Center for Seismology (NCS).

The NCS in a tweet published a map of areas affected by the earthquake, which covered much of Western Nepal and Northern India including Uttarakhand, Delhi-NCR, and parts of Uttar Pradesh.?

This is second time Delhi-NCR has felt tremors this week. Earlier on Wednesday, a 6.6-magnitude earthquake struck Western Nepal and tremors were felt in Delhi, NCR, and Uttarakhand which borders Nepal. At least six people were killed in Nepal in the earthquake on Wednesday.

This is the third earthquake to have struck Nepal this week.?

Officials said the epicentre of the earthquake was 212 km southeast of Joshimath in Uttarakhand. PTI quoted an official as saying that the depth of the earthquake was 10 kms.?

In Uttarakhand, the tremors were felt in places including Pithoragarh, Munsiyari, and Gangolihat.

"The origin of the earthquake was 10 km deep and 3 km from Silanga town of Nepal. The affected countries are India, China and Nepal," Pithoragarh Disaster Management Officer BS Mahar told PTI.?

There was no immediate report of any damage.?
