As the news of raping a minor over months and impregnating her surfaced, the accused senior government official of the Women and Child Development department, Premoday Khakha, was seen attempting to escape with his family in a bid to?evade arrest.

According to a purported CCTV footage recovered by the Delhi Police, the accused was seen sitting in a moving car wearing a blue shirt as he attempted to escape at 9.35 am on Monday.

As per media reports, the accused government official was in touch with a lawyer and he was?he was preparing to move a bail application in the court.?

The Deputy Director of the?Women and Child Development department,?Premoday Khakha, was accused of raping his friend's?14-year-old daughter for several times? between November 2020 and January 2021.?Moreover, the official's wife has been accused of giving the survivor abortion pills.?

The victim started living with the accused and his family since her father's death. The accused reportedly?was her local guardian and the girl used to call him ‘mama’ (maternal uncle).

The Delhi government official has also been suspended on Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's order.

Delhi Police has lodged an FIR against the accused and his wife on charges of rape under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The wife has been charged with giving her medicine to terminate the pregnancy
