Assembly Election Results: BJP Wins Rajasthan, MP, Chhattisgarh; Congress Secures Victory In Telangana
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh, while Congress is set to form the government in Telangana.
The BJP is poised to govern Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, both presently under the rule of the Indian National Congress. In Madhya Pradesh, the BJP is on track for a historic fifth term. Meanwhile, Congress claimed a comfortable victory in Telangana, a state previously governed by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi party (formerly known as the Telangana Rashtra Samithi).
BJP attributed the?success in the three states to PM Narendra Modi's leadership, Amit Shah's strategy, and party welfare policies.?The opposition, however, has claimed that the results will not have any impact on the Lok Sabha elections in 2024.?
The state assembly elections in the five states, including Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and Mizoram, took place last month. Termed as semi-finals, these elections are considered crucial for both the Congress and the BJP. The results are anticipated to set the tone for the Lok Sabha elections next year.
The seat distribution for major parties is as follows:
- Madhya Pradesh (230): BJP (163), INC (66)
- Rajasthan (199): BJP (115), INC (70)
- Chhattisgarh (90): BJP (54), INC (35)
- Telangana (119): INC (65), BRS (39)
