Former commander of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Akram Khan, was killed?in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, by unidentified gunmen. Akram?led the LeT recruitment cell from 2018 to 2020 and was known for delivering anti-India speeches in Pakistan.

Akram was a key member of LeT's central recruitment cell and was responsible for radicalising terrorists who then infiltrated into the Kashmir Valley, according to a report by?Times of India.?Pakistani officials are probing the involvement of local rivals, including those from different terror groups.

This?is the third assassination of a top Lashkar operative in recent days. In September, LeT Commander Riyaz Ahmed, who was handling Lashkar's recruitment in PoK, was killed outside a Masjid in Rawalakot. He was considered as one of the main conspirators behind the Dhangri terror attack.

Prior to this,?Khwaja Shahid was found beheaded near the Line of Control in Pakistan. He was?one of the masterminds of the 2018 Sunjwan terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir.?The back to back killings are being seen as a major setback to the Lashkar.
