The Hyundai Xcent is set to get an update to its features list soon. It will now come with ABS as standard along with dual front airbags. At present, ABS is only available from the SX variant onwards. Apart from these changes, the Xcent will also lose the E+ variant, which currently sits above the base E variant. This will reduce the variant count to four -- E, S, SX, SX(O). The change in the number of variants, however, will affect the S variant in more ways than one. Here’s how:
Hyundai Xcent To Get ABS With EBD As Standard; E+ Variant To Be Discontinued
The Xcent will soon come with a 3-year/1-lakh km warranty instead of the existing 2-year/unlimited km package
Hyundai Xcent S variant will lose a lot of features
At present, the Xcent’s S variant commands a premium of around Rs 40,000 and Rs 1 lakh over the E+ and E variant, respectively. However, since the E+ variant is set to be discontinued soon, Hyundai will remove some of the S variant’s features to keep the price gap between it and the base E variant narrow. That said, the S variant will continue to be more equipped than the soon-to-be-discontinued E+ variant. Here’s a list of features that will soon face the axe:
- Folding key
- Impact-sensing auto door lock
- Electrically folding ORVM
- Turn indicators on ORVMs
- Front passenger seatback pocket
- Metal finish on inside door handles
- Chrome accents on gear knob and parking lever tip
- Touchscreen audio system (will continue to be available with Xcent S AT, though)
- Passenger-side vanity mirror
- Luggage lamp
But it will gain..
The S variant, like all other variants, will now get ABS with EBD as standard. Hyundai will also add?a boot lip spoiler to the Xcent range, which will be available from the S variant onwards.
And..
At present, Hyundai offers a 2-year/unlimited kilometre warranty on the Xcent. Going forward, the carmaker will increase the duration of the warranty but will cap the odometer reading. That means the Xcent will come with a 3-year/1-lakh kilometre warranty package when the updated variants and their features list are formally announced.
