Actress Ramya Nambessan who is a founding member of the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) in Kerala has always voiced her concern about gender discrimination and pay parity in the film industry.?
In an interview with Outlook India, Ramya speaking about it said, ''Living in a male-dominated world, every industry would have that and one would definitely face discrimination and as female it's quite tough to be here but we are fighting for it because I am a founding member of WCC in Kerala. So, ya, we are dealing with and working on it''.?
When asked if she has any plans to enter Bollywood, she said, ''The whole life is been unplanned for me (she laughs). So, I am waiting for the unplanned surprises that the universe has to offer me. I am a very laid-back person and I would just take it as it comes my way. Of course, I am an actor and if I am offered a good role, Hollywood or Bollywood, I would do it.''.
Ramya also said that she doesn't have any favourite actors from the Hindi film industry as such but if a script or a role excites her she will do it. ''If I empathise with the script and the character, I would want to be part of it. That's it. There are lots of talented actors and directors out there and I would love to work with all. I am really looking forward,'' she added.?
