Biopics in the film industry are a genre itself. But, the increasing number of biopics on cricketers specifically seems like a trend. Cinemas and filmmakers have treated us to experience the lives of cricket legends MS Dhoni, Kapil Dev, Sachin Tendulkar, and Sourav Ganguly, whose biopic is in the works as of now.
Former Cricketer Yuvraj Singh Reveals Name Of Actor He Envisions Portraying Him In Biopic
In a recent interview, ex-cricketer Yuvraj Singh named the actor he would like to see play him in a potential biopic.
Now, in a recent conversation with The Times of India, former cricketer Yuvraj Singh, who has not only won acclaims for the Indian cricket team but also faced numerous struggles in his personal life, hinted that he might be joining the above list of cricketers as well. Upon being asked if there was a film based on his life, and who he would like to see play him, he was quick to respond, as if he came prepared to answer such a question.
He said that he was extremely impressed with Ranbir Kapoor and feels like he would do justice to the role. "I have recently watched 'Animal' and I think Ranbir Kapoor is perfect for my biopic. However, it is completely the director's decision. We are currently working on it and will have a piece of good news for you soon," Yuvraj Singh said.
If this does come to life, Ranbir Kapoor would just be proving, once again, that he is one of the top-most actors in the film industry. He has wowed audiences with his performance in 'Animal,' which has gone on to shatter box office collections, despite many criticisms.
For those unfamiliar, Yuvraj Singh has been an inspiration to many young cricketers because of his batting prowess. But, it's not only his batting that is wonderful; it's his spirit and resilience in overcoming lung cancer and having the courage to start afresh. The former cricketer did not give up, instead he sought treatment in London and has been leading a healthy life since over a decade now.
