The second T20I is abandoned due to incessant rain in Chennai. The India innings never began and as the downpour got steadier close to the cut-off time, the umpires were forced to call the game off. This means South Africa cannot lose the series now, as they lead 1-0 going into the third and final T20I on Tuesday (July 9).

South Africa have posted 177 runs on the board in the first innings, thanks to another half-century from Tazmin Brits and a three-ball 12-run cameo at the end from Annerie Dercksen. India need to chase this down, if they are to stay alive in the three-match series.
