BJP Leader Ramesh Bidhuri's Offensive Remarks Against MP - Not The First Time

BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri?has come under heavy criticism after he used communal slurs against BSP MP Danish Ali in Lok Sabha during the special session of the Parliament. This is not the first time that Bidhuri has made controversial remarks against MPs.

While the?INDIA bloc parties rallied behind Ali,?who said it was nothing less than hate speech and demanded that the matter be referred to the privileges committee of the House, the parties also demanded suspension of the BJP MP, even as the BJP issued a show cause notice to Bidhuri.

A two-term MP, Bidhuri has been a three-time MLA of the?Delhi?Assembly and represents the?Tughlakabad constituency in South Delhi. His recent abusive remarks against a Muslim MP is not the first time that the minister has come under fire for his words.

BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri's controversial remarks

In 2015, five women MPs from the Congress, CPM, NCP and the Trinamool Congress (TMC) had, in a complaint to then Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, accused Bidhuri of “abusive behaviour” and using “sexist, abusive and derogatory” language in the House.?

In their complaint, the women MPs said that earlier too Bidhuri had allegedly used sexist remarks against them.

“He has been abusive with me at least three to four times earlier as well. There was this instance during the budget speech discussion when I talked of the need to give benefits to single women and he turned around saying I should divorce my husband first and then such benefits can be given to me,” Ranjan was quoted as saying.

In 2017, the BJP leader allegedly said that " a grandchild may be born within 5-6 months in Italy but in Indian culture, it does not work that way," in a veiled reference to Sonia Gandhi,?Times of India?reported.

During campaigning ahead of the?2019 Lok Sabha polls, supporters of Bidhuri and AAP’s candidate from South Delhi, Raghav Chadha engaged in a confrontation. Almost a year later, a video went viral that showed Bidhuri using “derogatory” language against farmers protesting against the Centre’s now-repealed farm laws at Delhi’s borders. At a press conference, Chadha showed the purported video and asked, "Is this how?our country’s farmers ought to be treated?”?

Last month, Bidhuri had called Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal a ‘dwarf’. “Well said Dwarf Duryodhan. Due to just 3 days of rain in Delhi, all the roads of Delhi were converted into lakes. Crores of scams in the name of making rooms in schools, the so-called World Class Mohalla Clinic is a den of animals and alcoholics. @BJP4Delhi”, he had posted on X. ?He also reiterated similar remarks during a session of the parliament.?

During the recently-concluded special session of the parliament, the?BJP MP used terms like?"Muslim ugrawadi" (Muslim terrorist), "Bharwa" (pimp), and "katwa" (circumcised) to refer to Danish Ali. ?
