Valentine’s Day is here and love is in the air. Grabbing a bowl of popcorn, and snuggling in with your Valentine to watch a romantic film or series is the best way to spend some quality time. After all, there is nothing like the moments of cuddling and feeling the mushiness of V-Day. If you’re bored of the regular Bollywood, Regional and Hollywood films, then you have another great option at bay – Pakistani dramas.

Pakistani dramas have something gooey about them that they inevitably bring out the sweet emotions of romance within you. If you are a hopeless romantic, then some of these shows should be your guilty pleasure.

And what’s a better occasion than the season of love, Valentine's Day, to celebrate with the best of Pakistani series? Here are a few such Pakistani dramas that you should watch with your loved ones:

‘Humsafar’

Zindagi’s ‘Humsafar’ became one of the best Pakistani love story dramas, garnering praise for its writing, direction, and performances. The show launched Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan to super-stardom. Directors Sarmad Khoosat and Farhat Ishtiaq gave us more than a love story. Romance, jealousy, despair and, ultimately, the triumph of forgiveness made this one of the best series. It would be hard not to fall in love with the title track.

‘Zindagi Gulzar Hai’

Zindagi’s most popular show is ‘Zindagi Gulzar Hai’, which became a household name and also marked India’s introduction to one of the most celebrated on-screen pairs- Fawad Khan and Sanam Saeed. The story takes us into the lives of two protagonists, Zaroon Junaid (Sanam Seed) and Kashaf Murtaza (Fawad Khan). Zaroon is from a wealthy background, and Kashaf comes from a modest one. Despite their different upbringings, the two eventually fall in love. The series, which first aired in 2012, is still relevant and is among the popular choices for the audience.

‘Pyaar Ke Sadqay’

‘Pyar Ke Sadqay’ is definitely the kind of drama you get lost in. The story is about Abdullah (Bilal Abbas) and Mahjabeen (Yumna Zaidi) who are social misfits. While Mahjabeen is quirky and clumsy, Abdullah is a shy, nerdy and socially awkward person. Both protagonists are daydreamers with different aspirations; Mahjabeen fantasizes about escaping from her studies and getting married one day, while Abdullah dreams about a relationship with his crush and classmate, Shanzey (Yashma Gill). Will destiny bring them together? Watch the show to find out.

‘Mann Mayal’

Hamza Ali Abbasi and Maya Ali bring an old-school romance back to life in this series. ‘Mann Mayal’ narrates the story of two neighbours, Manahil (Maya Ali) and Salahuddin (Hamza Ali Abbasi) When Manahil fails her exams, her father asks Salahuddin to tutor her. They both fall in love but Salahuddin refuses to marry Manahil due to their social class. He asks Manahil to agree to Mikael's proposal and leaves her. A heartbroken Manahil marries Mikael while Salahuddin leaves for Karachi in search of a job. The show is a perfect mix of hurt, passion, romance and anger. A genuine sad love story, Mann Mayal will take you on a breathtaking ride.

The story revolves around a painfully pampered boy named Aunn, who is dying to break out of the shackles of his overprotective and overbearing family members. At a wedding, he bumps into Zara, a headstrong and vivacious girl who is the daughter of an uptight army officer. Sparks fly when the two come face to face in their first encounter, which eventually culminates into a marriage of convenience. The evolution of their relationship, their journey of self-discovery and the family dynamics form the crux of this interesting series.
