Park Seo-joon On Mixed Reactions To 'Gyeongseong Creature': There Are Always Fans Who Are Disappointed

'Gyeongseong Creature Part 2' opened to mixed reactions from fans. Actor Park Seo-joon addressed the criticism the show and his role had received.

The second part of ‘Gyeongsong Creature’ was released recently. The Korean web series starring Park Seo-joon, Han So-hee, and Soo Hyun received mixed reviews after its release. The thriller drama is set in 1945 when Korea was under Japanese rule.

Park Seo-joon plays the role of Jang Tae-sang, an owner of a pawn shop. His character is wealthy, and he has the best pawn shop in Gyeongseong (the old name of Seoul). Not just that, he also was the best informant in the city. His character joins hands with Yoon Chae-ok (played by Han So-hee) and they try to solve a mission where they are put in an unlikely situation.

The actor spoke to OSEN and revealed his thoughts on the reactions the series has received. Park Seo-joon revealed that he had always been a part of projects that have received mixed reactions. He mentioned that the feeling was not new for him. He said, “I have never been a part of a project that didn’t receive mixed reactions. There are always fans who are disappointed, just as there are fans who enjoy the project. I have never become emotionally invested in the criticism. I just thought to myself that the project was receiving a lot of attention.”

Speaking to Koreaboo, Park Seo-joon also talked about his character and how the show portrays freedom fighters. He said, “Tae Sang may have claimed that money was most important, but he tried his best to save everyone, and had he not done so, the people wouldn’t have helped him in return.” He also added, “I never tried to demean the independence fighters while filming, but seeing these reactions, I realized it might be portrayed that way. I don’t believe that the K-Drama insults the independence fighters. They are the reason why I am alive today.”

'Gyeongseong Creature Part 2’ is now streaming on Netflix.
